Safeguarding

Statement of Intent:

At West Felton CE Primary school the safety and welfare of every child is of paramount importance to us. It is our belief that every child has the right to feel safe and supported and that all staff, including volunteers, have a full and active part to play in protecting pupils from harm.

Our School Designated Lead is Mrs Helen Hughes (Tel: 01691 610388)

Our Deputy Designated Lead is Miss Sue Miller (Tel:01691 610388).

The committee member/safeguarding link governor who oversee this work is Mrs Hannah McGrath (Tel: 01691 682289)

All staff and governors receive regular Child Protection Awareness training from the Local Authority.

Our policies are reviewed and updated regularly, and we implement new guidance from SSCB (Shropshire’s Safeguarding children Board) and the DfE.

We have staff and governors that have completed Safer Recruitment training and we feel secure that recruiting is done as safely as possible by following our recruitment policy. All staff, volunteers, governors and bought in services such as sports coaches are subject to an enhanced DBS check and references are always obtained prior to anyone commencing employment in our school.
